Communism is the philosophical, social, political and economic ideology and movement centred around creation of the Communist society. Communism is sometimes considered the 'second' political ideology, with Communist or Communist-leaning countries constituting a Second World. Communist parties around the world attempt to create Socialist states in which the means of production are owned publicly.

Communism is divided into several schools of thought, with two major schools being Sorelism, based around the writings of Philippe Sorel (1818-1877), and anarchist communism.
