Pollona has official diplomatic relations with most Maredoratic states. Between 2002 and 2014, Pollona had no embassy or diplomatic relations in Questers, accusing it of directly supporting communist insurgents in Silgadin and Schaumburg. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the primary outlet of foreign policy, controlled by the President and Cabinet. Parliament has input on the conduct, goals, and final approval for all diplomatic agreements.

Pollonan Foreign Policy

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Policy Agenda of Pollona includes the "promotion of free trade and commerce, guaranteeing national defense, preventing terrorism, advocating inter-governmental cooperation, securing conditions of general peace, and providing aid to the developing world."

Pollonan foreign policy is generally classified as realpolitk, given its history on Odveta and the threat of war from neighboring states. Relations with the Maredoratic League and the region's liberal democracies are colored by Pollona's alleged hypocrisy on human rights for its German speaking minority. Pollonan diplomats are especially concerned with the threat of its neighbor Questers, and its influence over Alisnan politics. Pollonan governments have, in the past, been far less scrupulous in dealing with countries like Prekonate in order to ensure a stable balance of power. Official policy however, is still colored by idealistic concerns such as free trade, political integration, economic development, and humanitarian interventions. To that end, Pollona's foreign policy objectives can be categorized into four quadrants: Sblížení (Rapprochement), Integrace (Integration), Otevřenost (openness), and Zabezpečení (Security).

Sblížení, or Rapprochement, is the Pollonan policy of working between Prekonate and other Alisnan powers to improve diplomatic relations and foster cross-continental cooperation. Primary objectives include boosting working relations between the liberal democracies and Prekonate, increase foreign investment, include Prekonate in more international issues like terrorism, and prevent future confrontations. Diplomatic agreements such as the Convention on Skilled Laborers are meant to increase Prekovi trust in Pollona as a reliable partner. Pollona intentionally avoids confronting Prekonate on issues of democracy or human rights, instead limiting discussion to economic and cultural exchange opportunities. Pollona has signaled its approval to opening capital markets to Prekovi businesses, in exchange for favorable trade terms. Pollonan diplomats want to be viewed as reliable partners in Prekonate, leveraging cooperation into a mediating role between Prekonate and other liberal democracies. To that end, treaties with Prekonate are promoted as a sign of Prekovi willingness to cooperate within the international system.

Integrace, or Integration, is Pollonan policy meant to improve diplomatic relations with fellow Alisnan states in order to begin a process of Alisnan integration. This includes Pollona reaching mutual understandings over Odveta policies, working to end sanctions from countries like Sondstead or Morieux and relax the policy to win approval. Pollona supports democratic movements in countries like Borgosesia in order to facilitate a more favorable diplomatic climate. Better relations with Alisna's democracies would, it is hoped, lead to serious consideration of Pollonan proposals for economic integration. Such a policy would benefit the Pollonan economy and counter Morivaine influence.

Otevřenost, or Openness, is directed towards Wilassian and Alqosian nations. Pollonan strategy entails opening up more markets in the developing world to Pollonan trade and financial networks. Pollonan policy is to partner with developing nations to improve their economies and provide appropriate foreign aid.

Zabezpečení, or Security, is policy that ensures the long-term defense of Pollona against hostile state and non-state actors. Right now the Pollonan military assumes Questers is the primary threat. Pollonan policy therefore should foster closer ties to Moreiux and Prekonate, with the ultimate aim of securing defense agreements, security guarantees, or formal alliances. Reviving the Alsund Accords with Varnia is further meant to contain potential Questarian aggression. Pollona actively intervenes in Borgosesia, Silgadin, and Schaumburg to ensure the maintenance of friendly, non-hostile governments.

Pollona prioritizes agreements on counter-terrorism and intelligence sharing, and is actively working on an international treaty for the prevention of terrorism.

Relations in Alisna

Country Notes

Morieux-Pollona relations

Relations between both countries are in flux due to a three century dispute over the Îles Malouines. Several decades ago, Pollona launched an unsuccessful invasion of the islands known as 1973 Malouines War. Morieux responded by restricting Pollonan settlement and travel to the island chain. Recently both parties signed an agreement resolving the competing claims.

Relations started to warm after the dissolution of the Jesselton Pact.. Morivaine officials are, at present, alarmed by Prekonate's rising influence in Pollona.

While Morieux has historically been accepting of the discrimination faced by Pollona's German Minority, mainly due to its practices with its own population, Morivaine politicians have become increasingly critical. This has cooled relations.

 Van Luxemburg

The Van Luxemburger government has largely opposed the Odveta policies over the last decades, as the fate of German-speaking Pollonans became more apparent to the average Van Luxemburger. In the interest of trade and international cooperation, the Van Luxemburger has in recent years tried to initiate a more constructive attitude towards Pollonan-Van Luxemburger relations.
