The Florin is the national currency of the Grand Duchy of Van Luxemburg. While Florin is the international name, locals prefer to call the currency Floréin. One Florin consists of 100 cents, which is usually denoted by simply ƒ, the symbol for Florins itself. For example, 50 cents would be denoted simply as ƒ0,50, or as 50c. A strange attribute of the Florin is that the ƒ5 denomination is available both as a coin and as a banknote; The ƒ5 banknote was introduced in 1978 due to lower resource cost, but the coin remained a valid mean of payment, and are still in circulation due to the coin being more durable than the note.
